"Hello everybody, I'm so happy that you are here. Let's start with a little piece of magic, acting as an indicator for how much magic to expect."
"Moin Moin, ich freue mich sehr das ihr heute da seid. Beginnen wir mit einem kleinen Trick, so eine Art Indikatortrick.
The performer while delivering the patter bounces a ball on the table and catches it.
"The higher the ball jumps the more magic we see tonight"
"Je höher der Ball springt, desto mehr Zauberei seht ihr heute Abend"
The performer again bounces the ball onto the table. The ball remains there and doesn't bounce up.
"I guess that's it then... Have a nice day, good bye!"
"Hmm, das war's dann wohl. Schönen Tag noch, Auf Wiedersehen!"
The performer pauses a little bit and then continues:
"Well just kidding. But seriously, I'm so happy that you are here. My name is Roland and I'm tonight's magician. Your magician. Let me tell you a little bit about the magic that I do."
"War nur Spaß, aber mal ersthaft, ich freue mich wirklich das ihr heute hier seid. Mein Name ist Roland und ich bin der Zauberer für heute Abend. Euer Zauberer. Ich erzähl mal kurz was über die Art der Zauberei die ich mache."
The performer picks up the ball from the table and does a continuous production of balls that he pretends to put away.
"The focus of my magic is based on sleight of hand. It took me years to create the illusion of something happening that does not happen."
"Hauptaugenmerk meiner Zauberei ist die Fingerfertigkeit. Ich habe Jahre damit verbracht die Illusion zu erzeugen das etwas passiert, was nicht passiert.
The performer tosses the ball up in the air and catches it with the other hand.
"Sleight of hand comes in many facettes and variations"
"Fingerfertigkeit hat viele Facetten und Varianten."
The the ball is placed into the first hand again and the ball is tossed up in the air again. And again the performer catches the ball with the other hand.
"Sometimes it is clear as day and sometimes weird"
"Manchmal ist es glasklar und manchmal rätselhaft"
On another repeat however the ball seems to vanish in midair and immediately is found in the hand that is supposed to catch the ball. Which comes as a surprise to even the performer.
"Odd! Balls vanish, then reappear, then vanish again, only to be somewhere else!"
"Seltsam! Bälle verschwinden und erscheinen, dann verschwinden sie wieder und tauchen woanders auf."
The ball vanishes and reappears from rolling it around the hand and back into the hand, from which the ball disappears again only to reappear between the fingers of the other hand. Then the ball is put away in the pocket and jumps back into the hand.
"And even though things are almost never the way they appear, they are always something"
"Und auch wenn die Dinge nicht immer das sind wie sie erscheinen, so sind sie doch immer irgendwas"
The ball is shown and then changes color.
"And with those words, we shall begin"
"Und mit diesen Worten wollen wir beginnen"
